This Couple Had a Quarantine Zoom Wedding - Why Wait?
How do you have a wedding in quarantine, safely, while still in the company of your loved ones? Virtual weddings just might be the way of the future, as they allow you to still have a ceremony amongst your family and friends, while honoring social distancing guidelines.
Beth and Cameron are two MiaDonna customers who had plans for their in-person wedding but had to postpone due to COVID-19. As the quarantine dragged on, they decided not to wait and have a special and memorable wedding virtually. We want to honor their union and celebrate them as this month’s featured couple.

The two of us were originally supposed to get married in an intimate ceremony followed by a reception with friends and family at our favorite local dive bar. While we still love our plans (and are going to do a bigger shindig with people physically present later), we knew they just weren't realistic given the COVID situation. For practical reasons, we didn't want to wait another year to get legally married and decided to go for it once we got our marriage license.
Initially, we thought we might just do something extremely informal and treat it like filling out paperwork, but it turns out people want a reason to celebrate right now. Since we have loved ones scattered across the globe, we knew that figuring out a virtual way to celebrate with them was essential. We're fortunate that we hired wedding coordinators, Kate and Hanna from Hosted By, who could help us figure out how to make the day special despite it all.
Based on the advice of people who know what they're doing, we decorated our deck with some plants, candles, and the books that are destined to be part of centerpieces. Our dear friend who's been isolating with us got ordained and our photographer took some gorgeous shots from a distance. We kept the ceremony short and sweet, followed by a toast with some bubbly and a speech from the father of the bride. Afterwards we celebrated with takeout from a local restaurant and cake slices from our wedding cake baker.

Even though it isn't what we'd planned, it turned into something unforgettable. For us, having photos that we can now share with the people who couldn't be there on the day was essential.
