What happens when you’re waiting alone in front of a local cupcake shop waiting for your date to arrive for the first time? You marry him, of course! Meet Karen and Jared, a vibrant couple from Portland, Oregon. Though they’ve known each other for more than 10 years, they began dating after graduating high school five years ago. Though Jared didn’t realize that their first date was a date until he showed up at the cupcake shop that fateful day, the rest is history!
On August 21, 2017, the sky turned dark as the moon eclipsed the sun along the path of totality in Madras, Oregon. As it so happens, Jared too had a total eclipse of the heart. Prior to road tripping south with their four-legged friend, Jared orchestrated a surprise photoshoot with their photographer friend, Cat. So that morning, Jared and Karen modeled for the shoot and when it came time for complete totality, Jared got down on one knee and proposed. As the sky turned black and the desert bursted into applause for this once-in-a-lifetime event, Jaren and Karen, made a memory of their own.
